Interracial marriages certainly existed and tolerated in 1890s London, especially among the poor, working and middle classes. <br /><br />Sympathetic views of interracial marriages appeared in fiction during that period, too. Example: Arthur Conan Doyle's The Adventure of the Yellow Face (ignore the implication of this title!
