TBR Piles and Other Bloggers

My birthday's in a week, but I've already used some of my gift money to buy more books for my TBR pile, which is swelling to gargantuan proportions since I just found out that the Book Smugglers' Smugglivus pole wuvs me very much. Yippee!

As it is, I still went out and bought new books, because I am a bookwhore. One of the books is at the suggestion of the aforementioned Book Smugglers, who have invited me to do a Guest Dare on their site in the upcoming months. Basically, I tell them a romance genre with which I am either a) uncomfortable with or b) unfamiliar with and they suggest the best possible example of it, and then I review it on their site. I'm not going to spoil it by saying the title of the book they suggested, but I'll give a hint - the hero thinks:

Also, I caved, Kristie J! DO YOU HEAR ME? UNCLE UNCLE UNCLE! I finally went out and got it:

I'll be reviewing that later, too. I also thought I'd add a bit of a warning - I'll still be reviewing romance novels as soon as I'm finishing reading them, but my output might be a little slower for a while. I got a package of fantasy novels from The Green Man Review to review for their site, so I'm going to be doing a "one for me, one for them" reading order for the next month or so.

  1. Well - the reviews seem to be mixed on Broken Wing *g*. Some (like me *g*) really REALLY love it and some aren't quite as over the moon. I hope you'll be an over the mooner. I will be watching - I'm sure your review will be hilarious!

  2. oh man you used a picture of Buster! awwwww

    : D

I can't wait to read your review. Also, I want to wish you an early "Happy Birthday".

  4. Kristie J --> I'll let you be the first to know when my review comes out!

Ana --> Buster's the first person I thought of ... especially when his mum catches him in bed with the Roomba. Hahaha.

Antonia: Thank you! I have to try very, very hard not to use the rest of my birthday monies on books - I really have no more room for them!

I know what you mean. I buy so many books and I nevr have time to read them all.

I also just bought Broken Wing - I'll be reading it soon.

New reader to your bog - LOVE IT! Your reviews make me laugh AND cry (because of the laughing). I think I saw that Lord of Scoundrels is on your TBR pile ... move it right on up!! It's fantastic. Another author suggestion: Anne Stuart. Everything she writes is great.

My birthday's coming up soon too - happy birthday to us!

I don't like Lord of Scoundrels. Read Romancing Mister Bridgerton instead (since I know that is also one of your TBR books).

  8. Antonia --> I'm actually planning a new post as we speak talking about the dangers of TBR piles that grow too big for their playpens. Hahaha.

inmomniac --> Thank you SO much! I am looking forward to Lord of Scoundrels. That being said...

Anonymous --> ... even though Lord of Scoundrels has been praised everywhere (or nearly everywhere in this case), I know it isn't always an indication that I'll like it. Romance critics were over the moon about "The Runaway Duke" by Julie Anne Long and I HATED that book. Still, I am looking forward to reading it - AND Mr Bridgerton. More romance for everyone. And hey, if it turns out I don't like it, I get to write a scathing, hilarious review, which is always fun!

I'll be interested in your review whether you love it or hate it. Though I really hope you dislike it! :-P I can't be the only person who was disappointed....
